February 2012: Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards for 2012: The annual Chamber awards have been restructured and are as follows: 1. Chamber Business of the Year, 2. Dwayne Hoppe Outstanding Community Citizen Award, 3. Chamber Member(s) of the Year Award, 4. Outstanding Educator.

Be on the lookout for voting instructions in the newspaper. Voting will be open to the public and all are encouraged to participate. The Award Recipients will be announced at the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet: Thursday, February 23rd.

Thursday, February 23: Johnson City Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet and Old West Casino Night - Join us at the Blanco County Show Barn for a fun filled night. Banquet, Silent Auction, Texas Hold 'em, Roulette, Craps, Black Jack, food and drinks. The doors open at 5 p.m. for early bidding on Silent Auction items, the Evening begins at 6 p.m. Tickets MUST be purchased in ADVANCE. No tickets will be available at the door. Tickets may be purchased at the Johnson City Visitor Center located at 100 E. Main Street, or from any of the Johnson City Chamber Directors. Call 830-868-7684 for more information! Wednesday, February 29: 4th Annual Writers Conference The Johnson City Library is proud to partner with The Writers League of Texas, and the LBJ National Historic Park to present the 4th Annual Johnson City Library Writers Conference. This workshop is for writers of all levels and for those who are interested in the writing of others.

Three accomplished widely published authors will present a seminar followed by a catered lunch and three interest-group workshops.These workshops include:
JUMPING TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRAIN, with Carol Dawson
WRITING FOR YOUNG READERS with Jennifer Ziegler
THE PAST IS YOUR FUTURE: WRITING & SELLING HISTORY & BIOGRAPHY with James L. Haley

10:00AM to 11:30: Panel discussion with authors and book signing.
11:30 to 1:00: Lunch catered by Silver K Cafe'
1:00 to 4:30: Concurrent writing workshops with author of your choice.
